According to Yellowpages.com, there are 77 ice cream parlors between Fairfield and Stamford, but only two shops for frozen yogurt. With help from the West Coast, though, Connecticut will soon be spread with a lot more flavor.

Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt changed the concept of dessert outlets in January 2005, when it began its business in West Hollywood, Calif. Its drive to provide unique taste and flavor variety solidified its strength in the dessert industry, resulting in 100 stores being opened within the U.S., the Middle East, and Mexico. Fifteen more branches are planned to open by the end of 2010. Fairfield, Conn., has been chosen as a site for one of them, making it the first Pinkberry in the state, and the first exclusive frozen yogurt spot in town.

The striking Fairfield shoreline is a fine compliment to the retro Pinkberry personality. With its pebbled flooring, distinctive swirl light fixtures, and glass-accented walls, the sight of the store entices just as much as its tastes.

The company features six yogurt flavors, none more than 1.5 grams of fat per serving. Customers can enjoy seasonal favorites like Watermelon and Green Tea, as well as the year-round flavors of Chocolate, Mango, Pomegranate, Coconut, and tangy Original. All yogurts are made from non-fat milk produced without the use of hormones. The entire yogurt brand is certified by the National Yogurt Association and contains live and active cultures, which help to boost digestive health.

The diverse toppings bar allows customers to accent their yogurt and indulge their taste buds. Selections include fresh, seasonal fruit, as well as nuts, seeds, and even cucumber. No need to worry, though, if your sweet tooth doesn’t lean toward tradition. Pinkberry customers can also top their dessert with treats ranging from peppermint and gummy bears to cinnamon streusel and Gluten-free cake. For the diet conscious, all calorie counts are available at Pinkberry.com. But no topping has more than 100 calories per scoop.

The chain provides a unique relationship with its public through its variety of ordering options. Purchases can be placed in-store, online, or over the phone, then can be delivered to your home or brought directly to you in a Pinkberry parking lot. With the hustle inherent to Fairfield County, any resident can appreciate the company’s rare blend of convenience and quality.

Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt is coming to 1512 Post Road in Fairfield. So, get your spoons ready.

Tucked away on an secondary road in Woodbridge, Connecticut, is Scoop This Cafe, almost hidden behind a quaint store front. At first glance the cafe may be mistaken for a dainty coffee shop offering a limited variety of specialty coffees and perhaps a biscotto or two for garnish. In reality, this 3,800 square foot eatery not only offers a wide variety of gourmet coffee choices, but also a full breakfast and lunch menu loaded with healthy and appetizing selections.
The transformation of the building itself is of notable interest. Before current owner Scott Agnone renovated the property, local skate boarding aficionados flocked to this particular location. High industrial ceilings, exposed ducting and brick walls still hint of what was once an indoor skate park. Now, after renovation, the off-set wooden floors are used for dancing during private parties and special events. Local artwork is hung on the walls or prominently displayed in glass cases, providing a gallery for local artisans. The ambiance of the space combined with the eclectic and unique works of art make Scoop This Cafe a regular gathering spot for those seeking an engaging environment for breakfast, lunch, or a snack.
The concept for the cafe resulted from Agnone’s difficulties finding a place to meet with friends and business associates. The area lacked a relaxed gathering place that could provide food and beverages as well space to converse. Originally, the cafe offered a limited menu until customers began requesting more variety. In response, Angone expanded the cafe’s meal selections, transforming his local cafe into a bona fide breakfast and lunch destination. The witty title, Scoop This Cafe originated from the many scooping actions that occur at a traditional ice cream and coffee shop—the scooping of gourmet coffee beans and homemade ice cream.
Angone takes pride in using only the finest ingredients for all food and beverages served at Scoop This Cafe. The menu includes gourmet coffee and espresso selections, ice cream and deserts, as well as breakfast and lunch items. The full breakfast menu ranges from bagels to pancakes, while the extensive lunch menu includes vegetarian and vegan options. Nut-free, egg-free, and milk-free products are also available. Half dozen delicious soups, including vegetarian options, are offered daily. The cafe features a build-your-own salad bar and, during summer months, 24 different flavors of mouth- watering ice cream, hand-mixed by Agnone himself.
In the months of June and October, the cafe offers live music every Saturday evening, featuring music genres that range from Country to Jazz. The live music makes Scoop This Cafe a wonderful evening destination for the entire family. The cafe is also available for rent, providing appropriate space all kinds of events from corporate functions to children’s birthday parties for groups of 20 to 120 people. Catering is also an option for any event, offering a wide variety of gourmet food and beverages.
So here’s the scoop: Scoop This Cafe is the perfect location to enjoy friendly conversation over delicious food and beverages in an appealing environment, to have a party, or to order a gourmet meal treat to take home.
