Captain Lawrence Brewing began as the brainchild of Scott Vaccaro after brewing for Sierra Nevada Brewing and the Colorado Brewery of Danbury. Scott’s passion for beer and brewing started during high school, after observing a friend’s father homebrewing. Scott’s parents allowed him to begin homebrewing, and from the moment he completed his first batch, Scott knew that he was born to brew. Realizing a short while later in college that pursuing accounting didn’t suit him, Scott transferred to University of California at Davis and received his degree in Fermentation Science, during which he interned at two breweries, Bank Street Brewery in Stamford, and Andams Brewery in England. After the closing of the Colorado Brewery, Scott was left without a home to craft beer in the area. Seeing the lack of diversity in the local market pushed Scott into starting Captain Lawrence so that he continue to produce beer locally and give consumers a local, artisanal choice when it came to their beer purchases.

When you visit the brewery you are greeted by a cozy tasting room adorned with memorabilia from the company’s history including the many awards they have received. Tours and tastings can be taken every Friday and Saturday, and the entire staff is happy to show guests around, answer their questions, and make every visitor feel like part of the family. After sampling the available beers you’re welcome to purchase and take home a growler of any the beers you’ve enjoyed during your visit.
