Boards, Boots and More – Everything Burton

With recent snow storms making travel hard, “snurfing” seems the way to go. Fashioned by Sherman Poppen in 1965, “snurfing” (the earlier name for snowboarding, combining “snow” and “surfer”) is an actively popular winter sport.

Burton Snowboards, the world’s first snowboard factory, has spent nearly 30 years of commitment to the sport. The owner Jake Burton, was a kid when he rode Poppen’s Snurfer, and decided that in 1977, he would launch the world’s first snowboard factory. It was in Londonberry, Vermont that the factory conquered its early years and experimented in the trade. The second year of business, Burton Snowboards made and marketed classic boards such as the Backhill and Performer.

Burton Snowboards welcomed the snowy 2011 season, with a full line of new products and models. Leading in introductions is the collaboration of Burton Snowboards with leading British fashion designer Paul Smith. The co-design of the 2011 Burton Vapor snowboard stylishly showcases Paul Smith’s signature as well as Burton branding. A black and glossy topsheet, the Vapor pops with a multicolor base. The Vapor is not to be hauled around. Instead, as one of the lightest boards in the air and on the ground, it is designed to be the most responsive when it comes to tearing up the sloped.

Another recent design by Burton includes the TRON: legacy-themed snowboard boots. As a collaboration between Disney Consumer Products and Burton Snowboards, the boot was designed to make the TRON movie come to life. The graphics throughout the boot include a holographic treatment on the upper boot as well as electric orange and aqua color blocking and linear detailing. The futuristic boot is part of the all-new Burton Raptor boot line, and is touted as the best-in-class, on the tech side being he lightest weight Burton men’s boot created as of yet.

Burton Snowboards has flagship stores located in Burlington, Los Angeles, Innsbruck, Tokyo, New York, Chicago, and Orlando, as well as others. As the industry leader, Burton Snowboards will outfit snowboard enthusiasts in all the stylish and technology-savvy gear needed to completely experience the sport.
