Summer in the 203 is HERE.

Its that time again. If you grew up between Madison and Greenwich- you know exactly what we mean. There’s something wildly atmospheric and special about the 3 amazing months between May and September in southern Connecticut. Sure, summer’s in places like South Beach, the Jersey Shore, SoCal or Myrtle Beach are clearly more “famous”, if you will, but all the touristy hype and boardwalk boozing aside, the summers in the 203 are unmatched in character, atmosphere, and vibe.

As Connecticut steadily breaks out of it’s incased stigma of being the long drive way between Manhattan and Boston, Connecticrucians (that is, the sophisticated term for all those that sleep each night between Stamford and Stafford Springs) are developing a strong sense of self- based upon the nostalgic and a deepening feeling of subconscious and confident pride. In short- we know the 203 is an amazing place for so many reasons.

With endless options of summer leisure all within a half hour car trip- the 203 offers boating of all kinds from Branford to Stamford by day, and the bright lights of nocturnal adventure of SoNo, New Haven and Fairfield by night. New Haven, filled to the creative brim with arts, entertainment and world famous dining ( Best pizza, excuse me…Ah-beetz, this side of Italy) is always a great choice. And during the annual, month long “Arts and Ideas” Festival that sprawls its colorful influence all over the city, there truly is something for every summer stay-cationer in the Elm City. If shopping and fashion is your passion, look no further than downtown Westport for great boutiques for every niche.

With a strong New England backbone like ours, its obvious that learning, and progression, as well as our proud history, also represents itself well here. The Norwalk Maritime Center is recognized as one of the premier nautical museums in the nation- combining an aquarium with an interactive learning center and giant IMAX screen. The Peabody in New Haven on Yale’s campus is nothing short of a castle, where millions of years of world history resides. Giant dinosaurs, Aztec ruins, the remains of freakishly large extinct predators and breath taking dioramas fill the 3 large floors and countless halls. And yes, you must visit the ancient Egyptian mummy tomb, which feels a lot more like a Hollywood blockbuster set than a museum of natural history. And under no circumstances should any CT summer adventure discount Bridgeport’s Barnum Museum. Large flea circuses, elephant bones, circus paraphernalia, the clothing of legendary small man Tom Thumb, and a 4000 year old corpse taken by Barnum in 1892.

We at 203 pride ourselves on being southern CT’s ambassador, even if you already call it home. The summer is here, and luckily, so are you.
